Success in National Eisteddfod competition.

On August 9th, at the Literature Pavilion in the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Grahame Davies was awarded the top prize in one of the festival's poetry competitions.

His entry, submitted under the pseudonym 'Gwydion', won the category for a poem suitable to be set to music. It will be considered for use as the text to be set for the Composer's Prize in next year's Eisteddfod.

This was the third time Grahame Davies has won a National Eisteddfod competition: he picked up the Vers Libre prize in 1994 and the Sonnet prize in 2016.

The certificate and prize money was awarded by Meirion Jones in a ceremony in Y Babell Lên, the literature pavilion at the festival, held this year on Anglesey.

The competition asked for a poem dealing with space, the stars, sun or the planets. It was sponsored by the Royal Astronomical Society.
