Poem for Samarkand

Grahame Davies was commissioned to write a Welsh-language translation of a famous poem to the city of Samarkand yn Uzbekistan. On October 17th, 2013, the poem was read on the Day of the City of Samarkand, which celebrates this historic city in central Asia. The original poem was composed by the prominent Russian author Irina Alekseyeva. For this multi-cultural festival, and the associated book, the poem was translated into 62 languages.
