Poems set in stone on pathway

Poems produced by Grahame Davies working with local school students have been set in stone by artist Adam Williamson along a new pathway in the Llynfi Valley in south Wales.

The new 2.5 km trail between Maesteg and Caerau will provide a safe commuter route to the local comprehensive and primary schools, as well offer great opportunities for tourism in this scenic part of the Valleys.

The stunning route features artworks inspired by poetry from pupils of Maesteg Comprehensive School and Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Llangynwyd, working with poets Grahame Davies in Welsh and Mike Church in English.

This project is be supported by the sustainable transport organisation Sustrans and forms part of a strategic plan to develop the cycle network in this area of Bridgend.

Carl Sargeant, Transport Minister and Councillor Philip White, Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities officially opened the route.

The Wales Online report on the project can be viewed here.

A picture gallery of the opening and the completed route can be seen here.
