11/04/2003 Visit to Virginia Grahame Davies accepted an invitation to read in the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, in the USA for St David's Day weekend. The college in Williamsburg has a strong Welsh connection, as Goronwy Owen was on the staff there after he emigrated from Wales in the 18th Century. He spent the last 15 years of his life in Virginia, and his home is still to be seen there in the countryside outside the town. A number of Welsh-language writers have visited the college, because there's a lively Welsh society there which keeps the Welsh connection alive. There's an article in Welsh on the visit on the Cymru'r Byd website: here.
