Readings in Madrid

On March 14, Grahame Davies visited the Sargadelos Gallery in Madrid to launch two volumes of translations of Welsh poetry into the Galician and Asturian languages, which are spoken in the north and north-west of Spain. The anthologies, which are bilingual Welsh-Galician and Welsh-Asturian, have been organised by Xavier Frias-Conde, and the translations have been funded by Welsh Literature Abroad. As well as an 8,000-word introduction by Grahame Davies, the books, which are published by VTP Editorial, contain poems by Emyr Lewis, Ifor ap Glyn, Elin ap Hywel, Gerwyn Wiliams, Grahame Davies, Huw Meirion Edwards, Elin Lwyd Morgan, Nici Beech, Mererid Puw Davies and Elinor Wyn Reynolds. Details of the translations can be found here. Reviews are here and here, and there are further Galician translations of Grahame Davies's work here.
