01/10/2013 Premiere of Paul Mealor commission. On September 22nd, 2013, St Asaph Cathedral in Denbighshire was the venue for the premiere of a new musical composition by Paul Mealor with words by Grahame Davies. The piece was jointly commissioned by the North Wales International Music Festival and by Holywell Music to celebrate the 65th birthday of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and was composed by Professor Paul Mealor, who was born in St Asaph. It was composed especially for a choir and two harpists. On the night of the premiere the harpists were Prince’s first official harpist, international star Catrin Finch, and the current royal harpist, Swansea’s Hannah Stone, with Hannah playing the Prince’s golden harp. Both accompanied the choir from Aberdeen University where Professor Mealor works. A press article about the event can be seen here.
